Al-Ahly volleyball player Maryam Metwally published a farewell message after her departure from the team after 18 years.

As far as I know kora.com Maryam Metwally, accompanied by 3 other players, joined Zamalek in a free transfer deal. (see details)

Maryam Metwally’s message came through her personal account on “Facebook”:

“It’s hard, really hard to say goodbye to the place I grew up in, I have never prepared myself for this moment. This place is all I have known since I was 5 years old.

18 years of training almost daily. 18 years full of happiness and sadness, ups and downs, victories and defeats!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking hard about what to decide or say, but it’s still very hard for me to express how I feel about leaving the place I call, home!

This club has completely changed me to be the best version of me. This club has taught me so many things, so many stories to tell if I were to.

I wouldn’t be who I am today without all the people I met at this club.

Their help and spirit helped me go through many situations when I felt bad.

This club is where my journey began, and this club has made this game the best thing that can happen to me. Nothing is better than winning a championship with my team that I always call family, getting a medal and lifting a trophy together.

This step is the hardest decision of my life. 18 years of doing everything I could just to pay off what this club gave me and the girls I call home.

I will always appreciate the place that made me who I am today. I appreciate this club so much and I will never stop being a fan and wish my teammates the best of luck! You are my family and always will be.

But it’s time to start a new chapter in my life and explore new things, because it’s volleyball and this is a sport.

All I need from everyone who reads my hadith is to pray for me that God will guide me in the next step!

God only knows that I spent the best days of my life in Al-Ahly Club. I did my job perfectly and I didn’t fail in my performance at the club.

Thankful to all the coaches who took good care of me inside the club and gave me all the help they could give me to get the most out of me. Thankful to all the people who believed in me at this club when I didn’t have the energy to believe in myself.

Sometimes the cycle of life forces us to give up something we really love that we never imagined that one day we would give it up. But it’s time for me to open up to new adventures and see what the future has to offer. I will always cherish all the memories I have at Al-Ahly Club and I am excited to create more with my new team doing what I love most.

Always proud to be part of this team!

To the next challenge!”
